And we're back!!!

I did a lot of sniffling about taking 2 1/2 days off and not being able to find the motivation needed to get back on track. Well - I am out of those woods for now! I went for a run last night and it was fantastic! It's as if the time off generated some greater version of the running me.

I went out with a goal of 3 miles in mind - but it felt so good once I got out there that I quickly changed that goal to 5. I don't know if it was the cooler weather - the guilt I felt for taking so much time off - running away from my fussy children - but whatever it was worked. Typically I log 10 minute miles - last night it was 9:16 per mile. Could the little bit of speed work we did on Saturday really improve my time by 44 seconds per mile? If so, sign me up for more of that! I am now extra excited about starting the track workouts on Thursdays. And of course, for a very brief period, I couldn't help but try to figure out what it would take to qualify for Boston. 8:37 minute miles - which totally sounds doable - right? All that's needed is to shave 39 seconds off my mile time and do that consistently for 26.2 miles. Hmmmm. Okay - just a dream - but I will get there someday.

I am so excited that we have a long weekend to look forward to. We are going to take the kids to Arlington on the 3rd to watch the pony's race and the firework show. Then on Saturday after my group run we will head to Michigan. Hopefully the weather will warm up so the kids can spend the afternoon playing in the lake - and then we'll catch some more fireworks Saturday night.

Happy 4th of July!!!
